Slip Silk pillowcase and sleep mask review!

So I found out about silk pillowcases back in the spring. I had the slip silk pillowcase lingering in my cart for months! I would go to amazon and try to find a cheaper one but never ordered because there was always something questionable about the cheap-amazon-wannabe version. Finally when I saw the Slip for beauty sleep combo, I just went for it! (Also posted in my gift guide for her)

I have been using the pillow case for a month now and it’s embarrassing to say that I don’t think I could live without it haha! It don’t have to constantly flip my pillow, it stays cool all night and feels like you’re sleeping on a cloud (SO SOFT). When I wake up my hair doesn’t look majorly crazy. I’ve said before I wash my hair only once a week usually and this pillowcase has helped keep my curls longer. I am usually a side or belly sleeper so I would wake up with one side of my face having creases (which eventually causes wrinkles) and that doesn’t happen with the silk pillowcase!!

So those were my personal reasons for loving my new Slip silk pillowcase. Here are the websites description and claims –

“This anti-aging, anti-sleep crease, anti-bed head pillowcase by slip for beauty sleep is like an eight-hour beauty treatment every night. Crafted from pure silk inside and out as recommended by dermatologists, plastic surgeons, hairdressers and beauty experts alike, this pillowcase elevates beauty sleep to a whole new level.

We spend a third of our lives in bed, so what you sleep on is important. Silk fibers are significantly less absorbent than many other fibers, so they help keep your skin’s moisture and expensive face and hair products where they belong—on your face and hair, not your pillow. Ordinary pillowcases can cause hair to pull and tangle throughout the night, leading to bed head in the morning and potentially damaging hair. Slipsilk can help reduce friction, too, which also aids in reducing stretching and tugging on delicate facial skin.”

Fun fact – something that I learned about cotton pillowcases is that they absorb 20 times their weight in water. So this sucks the moisture out of your hair and face while you sleep. Also, more about hair… when you sleep on a cotton pillowcase and turn at night it twists your hair from the root and breaks your hair off…(WTF)!!

As for the mask, it is nice. I’m not a huge sleep mask lover because I feel like someone’s going to kill me in my sleep and I won’t see it coming.. you know.. because the mask is covering my already closed sleeping eyes?.. (yep, that’s my thought process) I pretty much just put it on when Cody wants to watch TV at night. Anyways it is comfortable, not too tight. The entire thing is made of 100% pure mulberry silk, even the filling side the mask. I could honestly probably live without the mask but the pillowcase is life changing!!

Alrighty, that’s all I have. I really do love the Slip silk pillowcase and would absolutely  recommend it to anyone of any age! If you are going to get a silk pillow case but you see the price and cringe, I would absolutely just save up and splurge for the Slip silk pillowcase rather than going a cheaper route. Most of the “silk” pillowcases on amazon say “100% silk” but are actually woven with cotton also, made with toxic dyes, weigh less, and have an overall quality difference.

The only “annoying” thing I could think about with the silk pillowcase is the wrinkles. I use a steamer after I wash it on delicate and I am not able to fully get the wrinkles out.
